Getting to Know: Kelsey Murano

As a Carrier Sales Account Coordinator, Kelsey Murano works closely with DQE’s carrier customers to provide services to the end user. This involves daily communication with the customer by sending welcome letters, FOC dates, and any other order updates that are requested. She also assists the carrier sales representatives with order processing and management.

What does true leadership mean to you?

True leadership means that you do more than manage others. This is someone that leads by example. They will motivate the team and encourage each member to reach their full potential.

What are your hopes for our industry?

I hope that this industry continues to grow and improve. Internet services are essential nowadays, and the need for this industry will not disappear. DQE Communications is a Pittsburgh-based company; hence our service territory mainly consists of Western PA, so I would like to see DQE expand our customer base by providing fiber services to more of our surrounding states.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to take my dogs to for a walk or a ride to the park, and on colder days, I enjoy curling up with a good book. If you ever visit my home, you’ll find that I have a very large book collection!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

Something that would surprise you is that I am a huge Disney fan. I love going to the movie theater to see all the new movies they release, and I’ve visited Disney World many times since I was little! I most recently visited last summer for the 50th Anniversary celebration and to see the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot.

What advice do you have for prospective DQE candidates?

My advice to prospective DQE candidates is not to be scared to start a new career in telecommunications. If you don’t have a telecom background, there is someone in DQE willing to work with you and help you understand—all you need to do is ask. Even if you do come from a telecom background, this industry is always changing, and there will be something new to learn every day.
