Getting To Know: Kevin McPherson

As the Manager of Sales, Kevin McPherson supports the efforts of the Enterprise and Fiber to the Home teams. He develops and guides the team in creating relationships within the market that lead to productive partnerships with both entities.

Before working at DQE, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

My very first job was probably my most unusual job. I worked at an auto mechanics shop, cleaning the floors, washing cars, and doing oil changes. I also ended up working for the owner of the mechanic shop, working on his rental properties, which had me painting houses, working on roofs, and other repair projects.

What advice do you have for prospective DQE candidates?

Stay positive, and always be willing to learn with an open mind. The job landscape is consistently changing, especially during the last 3 years, so adapting to the environment is the most critical job skill.

What are you most excited about accomplishing in your role?

Helping to see the growth and the success of the team, which will lead to the fostering of partnerships within our markets. Creating these new relationships will generate a path that will lead us to exciting projects that will filter down throughout both organizations.

What are your hopes for our industry?

Our Industry is currently in a shift with the fiber infrastructure that has been built across the country in the last 3-5 years. The companies that provide the elite level of customer service will be the ones that separate themselves from all the different providers. My hope is that our industry recognizes this environment and adapts to the needs of the customers.

What does true leadership mean to you?

Leadership is always about taking care of the people you support; I consider myself to be a self-servant leader. I want to see the best of the people I work with, lift them up, and help them to maintain the right attitude.
